Meet our new Business Controller, Susanna Kurlin
Yonoton strengthens its core-team with the appointment of Susanna Kurlin as a new Business Controller.
Susanna makes a transition to Yonoton with previous experience in various business administrative roles in startups, venture capital & private equity and large corporate companies.
We sat down with our newest yonotonian to learn more about her background, motivations, and what excites her most about joining Yonoton.
Why did you decide to join Yonoton?
Joining the Yonoton team felt like the right decision from the very beginning. From the first message, there was a clear sense of openness, honesty, and direct communication in an environment where things are said as they are. That immediately left a strong impression and made the choice feel easy. It is a place where you can truly be yourself and feel part of a team built on trust and straightforward collaboration.
What excites you the most about your new role?
What excites me most about the Business Controller role is Yonoton’s strong drive and clear direction. It is inspiring to be part of a company that does not simply react to market conditions but confidently follows its own path, even when that means going against the current. In today’s economic climate, that mindset really stands out.
The team size also feels just right, making it possible for everyone’s contribution to have a real impact, both in day-to-day work and in the company’s growth. Being part of a growing business brings a great balance of challenge and opportunity to keep learning and developing.
What inspired you to pursue a career in finance and business controlling?
My career has always been driven by a strong interest in data and numbers. Understanding financial performance, analyzing data, and turning insights into better decisions are things that motivate me every day. This role offers a great opportunity to combine analytical thinking with business development, which is something I find especially meaningful.
What are your goals at Yonoton?
At Yonoton, I aim to support the finance function while also helping improve processes to make them more efficient and seamless. My goal is to ensure that finance supports the business in the best possible way while keeping the focus on what truly drives growth. Providing clear and actionable insights for decision-making is an important part of that.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I value an active and balanced lifestyle, spending time in nature and exploring creative interests. With two Australian Shepherds, being outdoors is part of every day, no matter the weather. Long walks are not just great exercise but also a way to reset.
On the creative side, I have set up a small ceramics studio in my garage, where I work with clay and enjoy a hands-on contrast to the world of numbers.
What is Susanna’s secret superpower?
As for my secret superpower, that might remain a mystery. After all, mothers tend to know everything anyway.
