MobilePay and Yonoton start collaboration

May 2020 will see two digital payment accelerators joining forces when Yonoton —specialising in digital ordering and payments— and MobilePay —the leading mobile payment solution in the Nordics— start collaborating.

Yonoton’s mobile services are already in use in over 500 customer service locations. Among these are Sodexo lunch restaurants and NoHo Partners restaurants.

Making payments is going to get faster and easier in Yonoton applications as you won’t need strong authentication, nor will you have to go through the hassle of inserting your card details, when paying with MobilePay. Payment is safe and simple: MobilePay users will authenticate through their phone’s biometric login or PIN code, and the actual payment will be confirmed with a single swipe.

MobilePay has a vast user base: over 1,3 million Finns have the application on their phones.

“We want to offer versatile and fast payment methods for our customers. MobilePay is already installed in many of our phones which means that you won’t necessarily need to separately connect your payment card to purchase through our apps. We are very excited, and have high expectations from this collaboration,” says Yonoton CEO Teemu Karenius.

In the Nordics, Yonoton’s custom-built mobile services are used in a variety of different sectors including restaurants, amusement parks, hotel chains and mass events. Yonoton’s clients include restaurant giants Sodexo and NoHo Partners, that operate over 400 restaurants in Finland.

TOGETHER AGAINST CORONA

The pandemic will permanently change the way consumers behave. Yonoton and MobilePay’s innovative services are responding to the evolving world by offering alternative ways to order and pay. These include self-service check-outs at events and restaurants as well as home delivery and take-away services. Amusement parks will start using smart RFID wristbands which will have mobile payment methods connected to them through the park’s own application. This will encourage customers to choose a more hygienic way of paying.

”We are very happy to be able to collaborate with Yonoton. We have seen a huge rise in remote shopping for a long time now. The current exceptional times have brought an even bigger increase to that trend and we believe that as consumers adopt new payment methods, they will stay as part of their routine. It’s important for us to be able to offer an easy and safe payment solution within a mobile application environment,” says interim CEO Noona Puusniekka from MobilePay Finland.

MobilePay and Yonoton will announce their first joint clients in the next few weeks. These projects will efficiently combine fast and easy ordering and payment services.
